Artist Statement
Using colour as a metaphor for the subconscious, my paintings are symbolic of the stuggle between earthly desires and the quest for what is sacred within us. The controlled but random quality of the liquid paint is an embodiment of our dreams, desires, the effects of gravity, time and impermanence.
This is counter-balanced by a dedicated conscious striving to access and recognise what is true within ourselves through intuition and careful observation of the constantly changing inner and outer worlds around us, illustrated by the irregular movement and tactile surface quality of the paint.
Each painting is a meditation on the restless search to explore the unattainable mysteries of the human psyche.
